Discover where Frida Kahlo's family settled in Coyoacán. Learn of her passions and of her two weddings and one divorce with master artist Diego Rivera. Visit the home of her neighbor, the Soviet Union and Red Army founder, Russian exilee, Leon Trotsky including his tomb. Discover the "burial site" of Frida. Learn about Coyoacán history, chosen as a Spanish outpost and later, when it was invaded by the US Army. Visit its magnificent market, churches and plazas, as Frida must have known them.

This experience takes place at the Khalo family home, the Trotsky family home, the former convent of Churubusco and a battleground of the U.S.A., and the church and market of Coyoacán.

What You Will Do

This seven-hour experience takes you to the Churubusco former convent from the 16th century, where memories are kept from the US-Mexico war of 1847 at this actual battle-site.

As we visit the traditional neighborhood of Coyoacán we will enter the living quarters and fortress against the KGB, where Leon Trotsky, Soviet Union and Red Army founder, lived, was murdered and is buried in exile while we learn about his relationship to Frida Kahlo who lived a few blocks away.

We also take you to Kahlo´s home, the focal point of this visit, where we will have a full visit of the house complex and gardens.

Before heading to the magnificently decorated church of Saint John the Baptist, built almos 500 years ago, we will visit the local handicraft and produce market. Lunch will be held at a traditional local eatery.

Where You Will Be

We will pick you up at your accommodation within the Mexico City limits before heading directly to Frida's Casa Azul at the northern limits at Coyoacán.

We will visit the local produce market, where we will have lunch, as well as the 16th century church of Saint John the Baptist. Then we will go to the WWII era fortress and home to the soviet founder Leon Trotsky and visit his tomb, never claimed by Russia.

One of the highlights is the visit to the Churubusco battleground of the U.S.-Mexico war of 1847 where we will admire a 16th century former Catholic convent.
