Have fun discovering 500 years of art at the best folk art museums in Mexico City's Historic Center. See the Alameda district and have the opportunity to buy some of the art at the market where this experience ends.

What You Will Do

The creative arts of native nations of Middle America will be seen through its three distinct development periods: Before the Europeans, With the Europeans and in Fully Independent Mexico.

We will visit three very special collections, those of the Franz Mayer, Kaluz and MAP museums, comprising tens if not hundreds of thousands of artistic pieces, from humble pottery to extremely elaborate and ornamental gold and silver.

We will visit the collections inside 16th century buildings for the Mayer and Kaluz museums, going into the 20th century at MAP, which took advantage of the old Central Fire Station for its venue.

After the museums, we will visit the La Ciudadela market, a market that sells handicrafts from all over the country, making this a unique place because you do not need to travel to see or acquire these beautiful folk-art expressions.
