This experience takes you from the Chimalistac and San Angel neighborhoods and their 17th century viceregal charm dating back to Pre-Columbian times, to Desierto de los Leones, Mexico's first national park from the turn of the 20th century. As we visit the traditional neighborhood of Chimalistac where we will enter through cobblestone streets and bridges, discovering the lively neighborhood of today and its centuries-old secrets and monuments.
We take you then to the San Angel district where we will visit the 17th century convent of the Discalced Carmelites and its museum of religious art and mummified bodies. In San Angel we will stroll past its famous Del Carmen and San Jacinto plazas before entering La Casa del Risco and then we will pass-by the beautiful facades of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo's studio-home and Hacienda de San Angel, now San Angel Inn restaurant as we drive towards El Desierto de los Leones.
Desierto de los Leones is Mexico's first ever National Park and is crowned by an abandoned 17 century monastery of the Discalced Carmelites Catholic Order, we will visit the park, explore the monastery's ruins and enjoy a traditional Mexican lunch before retuning to the urban area.
